Zoya Pixie Dust Vespa Swatch

Hi guys! Today I have Zoya Vespa from the spring Pixie Dust Collection. I'm sure by now most of you have seen and heard about the texture craze that is going on right now. I'm a little late trying out this trend myself, and was actually given this polish by a good friend. I just wasn't sure if I would be able to wear something so textured on my nails. I'm definitely one who loves a smooth glossy finish to my nails. However after wearing this beauty for a full day I'm officially in love with this polish.

Zoya's website describes Vespa as a mint green with a sugared sparkle. IMO Vespa dries darker than your typical mint color. To me it's closer to a sage green than a mint. It has beautiful silver sparkle throughout that is noticeable in almost every light.

Swatches below are with no base or top coat. Vespa is somewhat sheer and 3 thin coats were used for full coverage. I didn't have any issues with application as long as I allowed some drying between coats. These swatches were taken after a full day of wear and applying lotion. It does seem to me that the color slightly darkens after applying lotion or cuticle oil a couple of times. Unfortunately the sun was hiding while I was trying to take these and the rain started just moments later so I had a hard time capturing the silver sparkle in these photos but it's definitely there IRL.

I love Vespa and can't wait to see some of the brighter colors that are going to be available in the new summer Pixie Dust Collection. You can purchase Vespa and the rest of the Pixie Dust Collections for $9.00 each on the Zoya website

So what do you think? Is your texture craze already in full swing or are you new to the party like me?

LA Girl 3D Effect Brilliant Blue

Hi guys! So while in Rite Aid the other day I stumbled across a new display of their new 3d effects line. Unfortunately the display was pretty picked over by the time I got there, but I did manage to bring this beauty home.

Brilliant Blue is a beautiful dark blue jelly with scattered holographic particles throughout. These are not the typical in your face holos we all know and love. That being said the subtleness of the holo particles really add a beautiful depth and sparkle to the polish. It looks like you're wearing the night sky on your nails.

Elegant Rose Stamping

Hi Guys! This is an older design that I did. I love using nail stamping plates and they have quickly become my favorite go to for beautiful nail art.

For this this design I wanted to create an elegant vintage look. I decided to try experimenting with layering different stamps. I could use more practice lining up my stamp , but all in all I was happy with the way it turned out. This is the end result.

About Me

I'm A 34 year old single mom from New Market, Alabama. I have always loved polish and to paint my nails, but it was something I could go long periods without doing. I've had health issues most of my life and became permanently disabled several years ago. One day while having a bad day I happened upon a nail blog and that was all it took. From that point on I searched for as many as I could find. I began looking at them any chance I had. I couldn't believe all the happiness that something as simple as nail polish could bring me. That's when I realized that for me it was more than just love of polish or nail art, but that it became a kind of therapy. I began experimenting with as many different techniques as I could, with nail stamping becoming an instant love. It's amazing that you can be having the worst day and look down and see something beautiful on your nails and it just makes you feel better. I wanted to start this blog to have a place to share my love of nail art in the hopes that maybe someone else will be inspired the way that I was. It has taken me a really long time to get to this place. Every time I would set about to get started I would always stop myself. I had so much fear that I wouldn't be able to keep it up or that it wouldn't be as good as the blogs I love so much. It finally took a great friend to remind me that it didn't have to be perfect. It should just be what I loved and enjoyed. So here it is my first blog post. Thank goodness for best friends and nail polish. What would we do without them lol!
